This extremely rare find of a complete, feathered bird was made in the Clear Creek Quarry in 2003 by Paul Jamison and Adam Smith. It belongs to an extinct order, the Lithornithiformes, and is the first and finest complete specimen of its group. Probably Pseudocrypturus cercanaxius, it is evolutionarily on-line to the large, flightless birds such as ostriches and emus. This specimen was prepared by Tom Mueller and is presently being studied by the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
